produced each year by the San Diego Film Foundation is proud to announce the addition of an Equestrian Film Track to the 2017 Film Festival. The San Diego International Film Festival features topic specific tracks that present groundbreaking, independent films telling stories that resonate with San Diego patrons in a variety of areas. Returning unique film tracks include American Indian, Environmental, Military and Social Justice. This year, there is a new track to represent our equestrian community. The Equestrian Film Track will highlight the diverse and creative
efforts of filmmakers that explore topics related to horses. Executive and Artistic Director of the Festival, Tonya Mantooth shared, “San Diego has one of the largest populations of horses and equine owners in the country, due in part to our ideal weather and riding conditions. With guidance from our Equestrian Track Advisory Committee, we have carefully curated a selection of films centered on horses. California’s equine industry has been valued at $4.1 billion with nearly 700,000 horses, including race horses. We are excited to provide a new filmmaking experience for this vibrant community.” Christina Fink, member of the Equestrian Track Advisory Committee added “You don’t have to be a horse owner to appreciate the power and majesty of these creatures. The strength of these films is that their lessons and stories will resonate on many levels with every viewer.” Equestrian Track film submissions are currently being curated, the complete lineup for this new track will be announced at the end of August.
