Ocean’s 8 Proves That Women Do It Best

Ocean’s 8 is a must-see crime film that pays subtle tribute to its predecessors while blooming into a standout film all its own.
Sandra Bullock stars as Danny Ocean’s estranged sister Debbie, who is just released from a 5-year prison sentence which has given her the time to plot the biggest jewel heist of the century. She assembles an all-female crew of criminals with unique skill sets with hopes of stealing a specific piece of jewelry, a 150-million-dollar diamond necklace, on display at the annual Met Gala in New York City.

These actresses worked flawlessly together to bring the audience a well-rounded presentation of action, comedy and suspense. Sandra Bullock exuded confidence as Debbie Ocean from beginning to end. Her interaction with her “right-hand woman” Lou, played by Cate Blanchett, will have you calling up your best friend to plan a heist.

Each of the women had their own flare and no one was over shadowed. Blanchett’s character Lou, was this edgy badass to balance with Debbie Ocean’s classy demeanor. Rihanna played her role as this intelligent stoner-hacker named Nine Ball, and couldn’t have played it better. Awkwafina played a pick-pocket in the Subways of New York named Constance, and was incredible in creating such a comedic and lovable character.

Mindy Kaling, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, and Helena Bonham Carter round out the rest of the supporting roles, which only goes to show how stacked this movie is with top-rate acting.

Bottom-line, it’s the women’s world now and we’re just living in it, and if it’s anything like this film I’m perfectly ok with that. Don’t miss out on this powerful, fun, confident crime movie.
