Luke Perry: A 90’s Icon Gone Too Soon

When I was in high school many moons ago, I was reading teen magazines like Tigerbeat and one of the faces that graced the cover of these rags was Luke Perry.

We might remember him distinctly as Dylan McKay, that “James Dean” like loner who is as mysterious as he is handsome.

What a lot of people might not know is the other prominent works he has done. He was in The Fifth Element, he was Billy Masterson, he had a great role on Spin City as Spence and his most recent role as Fred Andrews in Riverdale. The 90s icon was always game and had a great sense of humor. He even parodied himself on several shows like Family Guy and Johnny Bravo.

He was always included in the hottest TV shows like OZ, Leverage, Criminal Minds, Community and the list goes on.  But Luke wasn’t just a great guy to work with. He was an outspoken advocate for colon cancer treatments and prevention.

He is survived by two children and his former wife.
