I have been anticipating Draft Day since I watched the few trailers on television. And I MUST applaud director Ivan Reitman for this one. Fans of football and I mean, hard core fans that travel to NYC to attend the draft, who watch online, who anxiously wait to see (after making predictions among their crew of fans) if their favorite college players are picked up by the teams they predicted or the teams that they anticipate would benefit from said player.

If you don’t understand football, you might get lost (unless you go with a football fan!). I was highly pleased with this one. Kevin Costner is an amazing actor, and lives up to his movie persona in this film as the Cleveland Browns GM. Denis Leary who plays the coach of the Browns team, was a great supporting actor. Jennifer Garner (It’s been some times since I have seen her in film), is the calming force in Draft Day.
My heart raced quite a bit in this movie, especially during the draft and seeing each team on the clock, striking deals between teams with players. I had no idea what goes on behind the scenes, but if that is what it is…More power. The teams are LITERALLY made by the GMs, or at least they are in this film.

You definitely get a back story in this film, but it doesn’t hover too much on it, which is okay. Draft Day opens April 11 and is a MUST SEE.
I’m going, are you?
