Summary : Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, a.k.a. the hugely popular comedy duo Key & Peele, star as Clarence and Rell, two cousins who live in the city but are far from streetwise. When Rell’s beloved kitten, Keanu, is catnapped, the hopelessly straight-laced pair must impersonate ruthless killers in order to infiltrate a street gang and retrieve the purloined feline. But the incredibly adorable kitten becomes so coveted that the fight over his custody creates a gang war, forcing our two unwitting heroes to take the law into their own hands.

Keanu is a film starring the comedic team of Key and Peele. It was written by Jordan Peele and a member of the writing team from Key and Peele’s highly popular sketch comedy show. It’s a familiar fish out of water story where two not so gangsta guys have to make it out of various hood situations. It’s formulaic in it’s story but Key and Peele bring their distinctive brand of funnies to the execution so that it’s nothing short of entertaining.

The jokes are funny. The funny men give their fans a taste of the familiar with a call back one of their most popular sketches (see if you can figure it out when you see it). The jokes hit for the most part but a few (very few) fall short. Is it a comedy classic ? I think not. But will it make you laugh ? Yes, yes it will.

Any movie that can incorporate George Michael in to the whole movie in great and varied ways is OK in my book. The jokes are funny and consistently hitting you throughout. The kitten Keanu adds a fun cute factor that had burly men in the theater going “awwww!!!” whenever he hit the screen.
