Review: Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning delivers everything fans have come to expect from the franchise — adrenaline-fueled action, stunning practical stunts, and a commanding performance from Tom Cruise as the unstoppable Ethan Hunt. Watching this film in IMAX is absolutely the way to go. The scale, the sound, and the sheer visual intensity of the action sequences are amplified to jaw-dropping levels, immersing you fully in the chaos.

The film kicks off strong and keeps the momentum going with high-octane chases, combat sequences, and globe-trotting espionage. Cruise and the supporting cast — especially Hayley Atwell and Simon Pegg — give consistently strong performances, grounding the wild action in emotional stakes. The story itself is compelling, tying up narrative threads while raising the tension to new heights.

However, The Final Reckoning does feel a bit drawn out. Some scenes linger too long or revisit emotional beats that were already delivered effectively earlier, which causes the high-intensity pacing to dip and dulls the tension. It occasionally feels like the film is stretching its runtime just to prolong the experience, possibly setting up more questions than it answers.

By the end, you’re left wondering: Can Ethan Hunt actually die? Is this truly the end? These questions linger — both a strength and a slight frustration for a “final” chapter.

Despite the few pacing issues, this is still a thrilling ride and a solid entry in the series. Overall, I’d give it a strong 8/10.
