Xolo Maridueña Joins Season 3 of Netflix’s One Piece as Portgas D. Ace
Netflix has confirmed that Blue Beetle and Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña has officially joined the cast of One Piece Season 3. Maridueña will take on the role of fan-favorite “Portgas D. Ace” as the hit live-action series prepares to return to production later this year in Cape Town, South Africa.
The announcement was shared across the official One Piece social channels, where Netflix also revealed that Maridueña joins previously announced new cast member Cole Escola, who will portray “Bon Clay.” Additional casting news is expected in the coming months.
Meanwhile, Season 2 of the series—titled One Piece: Into the Grand Line—is set to premiere March 10, 2026, exclusively on Netflix.
The live-action adaptation, produced in partnership with Shueisha by Tomorrow Studios and Netflix, has become one of the streamer’s biggest global successes. Since debuting in 2023, One Piece has spent eight weeks on Netflix’s Global Top 10, hit the No. 1 spot in more than 75 countries, and became the first English-language Netflix series to debut at No. 1 in Japan. The show has garnered nearly 100 million views and remains one of the platform’s most downloaded titles.
The franchise continues expanding beyond the screen, with an immersive One Piece experience coming soon to Netflix House and an array of licensed products—from LEGO to Moose Toys—available through the Netflix Shop and major retailers.
Season 3 will be led by co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers Joe Tracz and Ian Stokes. Additional executive producers include Eiichiro Oda, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe, and Steven Maeda.
Based on Eiichiro Oda’s record-breaking manga, One Piece follows Monkey D. Luffy and his quest to find the legendary treasure known as the One Piece and claim the title of King of the Pirates. With more than 100 volumes and over 500 million copies sold worldwide, the franchise has built a massive, multigenerational global fanbase.
One Piece has been renewed for a third season, with Season 2 arriving in 2026.
