Movie
No guts, No glory. Him was a journey down the road of superstardom
Like the title says, Him was a journey down the road of superstardom and what it takes to be the greatest. Right off the jump, they showcased the obsession people have with their sports teams. The Saviors are the film’s premier football team, and Isaiah White, played by Marlon Wayans, is the film’s Greatest of All Time (GOAT).
Isaiah plays mentor to Cameron Cade, the upcoming #1 draft pick. You start to get the feeling that things aren’t going to be easy for Cam right away. Cam ends up being invited to work out with Isaiah at his personal home/training facility, and this gave off super Diddy vibes. You hear about newly famous people and athletes being taken advantage of, and this is the vibe for the majority of the movie. Goes to show you that you never want to meet your heroes.
By the end of the movie, Cam has done everything he can to impress Isaiah and members of the Saviors. There are obsessed fans, uncomfortable 1-on-1s between the two characters, and an assortment of yes men and women along the way, but everything feeds into the overall theme of the star quarterback getting everything he wants.
