The story of how small-time criminal Jason Derek Brown went from scamming his friends and family out of money, to occupying a spot on the FBI’s Most Wanted list for murder!
Meet Jason Derek Brown (Tom Pelphrey), the big kid in an adults body, charming and glib-tongued and maybe just a little dangerous, deliberately vague when it comes to his methods of making money, capable of sweeping the neighborly realtor Melanie (Idina Menzel) off her feet while also seducing her son with video games and secrets. Or is he?
As it actually turns out, Jason is worse than broke, owes fundage to quite a few unsavory characters, and the only real work he’s been doing is practicing his snake-like charisma for the next big scam. He fobs his brother David (Paul Schneider) off for their fathers inheritance, alternately begs and abuses his mother Jeanne (Jacki Weaver) for money, even tries to weasel the only one left in his family who wants to try and help him, his sister Jamie (Shantel VanSanten). The lies and deceits of his profligate lifestyle are rapidly catching up to Jason, who in his brilliance comes up with what he thinks is a big easy score – robbing the security guard of an armored truck company.
But the best laid plans of desperate men rarely have a tendency to work out, and after putting a couple of bullets into the poor security guard and hightailing it with a stupidly small take, Jason is awarded the dubious honor of being stuck in the FBI’s Most Wanted list, with a very determined Special Agent Lance Leising (Ryan Phillipe) hot on his trail!
The whole thing is a series of turning-ever-worse debacles. Because seriously, who thinks they can get away with shooting a security guard in front of a movie theater in broad daylight? Apparently the real-life Jason did, and does, for as we know the film is based on a real-life happening, and the real Jason Derek Brown has never been caught. Director Matthew Gentile found the story of how a small-time con-man made it to the FBI’s Most Wanted list fascinating and made the film as a way to tell the tale.
Who Doesn’t Want To Wear The Ninja Suit Of Snake-Eyes Or Dress Like The Mandalorian?
Hasbro has had their pulse app out for a while now. It allows for access to items to buy, preorder, and a look into future projects and releases. It also allows for a very cool thing most nerds (a group of which I am a proud card-carrying member) have always wanted, the ability to make yourself into an action figure. I’ve contemplated making one for a time but, I finally got my chance to get my hands on one at Comic-Con this year. Now, of course, I had to wait in line as it was a pretty sought-after item. Who doesn’t want to have themselves wear the ninja suit of Snake-Eyes or dressed like a Mandalorian? I was approached by one of the booth staff as I was showing my nephew all the cool ways we could get him his own MIles Morales action figure with his face (as he’s a massive fan) and invited to take a seat and scan our faces into the Hasbro Pulse app with the help of their awesome team and make this dream a reality. My wife was with us, so of course she got in on the fun too. We scanned our faces in and it was very simple and quick. Then we all selected our figures to add our heads to. We all chose Power Rangers(Me as the Black Ranger, my wife chose the pink ranger and the nephew got the red ranger). Then we were told that we needed to wait about 4-6 weeks and we’d have our custom action figure team in our hands. This was a major part of our Comic-Con adventure and definitely, a memory my wife and nephew won’t forget (as it was both of their first Con ever). Thank you to Hasbro for being so generous(also getting me brownie points that home) and I highly suggest checking out Hasbro Pulse and all the cool stuff it has to offer.
Sneak Peek At AMC’s New Walking Dead
I watched a sneak peek of Walking Dead: Darryl Dixon and Walking Dead:Dead City at San Diego Comic Con International. Darryl is my favorite character from the Walking Dead Series. There’s no spoilers here, just a few tasty tidbits. It’s shot like an epic movie, it’s darker and eerier (if that’s a word) than the original.
The Walking Dead: Dead City’s six-episode first season follows the popular Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) characters traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.
In The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Daryl (Reedus) washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and why. The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan.
Also in the Walking Dead Universe, the second half of the eighth and final season of Fear the Walking Dead returns this Fall, and the Untitled Rick and Michonne series starring Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, is set to premiere in 2024.
