Yash Introduces a New Vision of Ravana at San Diego Comic-Con 2026

One of the biggest moments for Indian cinema at San Diego Comic-Con 2026 came when actor Yash stepped onto the Ballroom 20 stage to introduce Ramayana, director Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious adaptation of the ancient Indian epic. Appearing alongside director Nitesh Tiwari, producer Namit Malhotra, and co-star Ranbir Kapoor, Yash gave international audiences their most in-depth look yet at his interpretation of Ravana—one of mythology’s most fascinating and misunderstood characters.

Known worldwide for his breakout performance in the K.G.F. franchise, Yash made it clear that Ramayana represents a different kind of challenge. Speaking to the Comic-Con audience, he described Ravana not as a one-dimensional villain, but as an extraordinary king whose intelligence, ambition, devotion, ego, and flaws make him one of the greatest characters ever written.

For Yash, portraying Ravana carries enormous responsibility. He acknowledged that Ramayana is a sacred story for millions around the world and emphasized that the filmmakers approached the material with deep respect while striving to present it on a cinematic scale that can connect with audiences everywhere.

The actor also praised co-star Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama, saying audiences will see “a beautiful Rama” brought to life with sincerity, sacrifice, and conviction. Their mutual admiration reflected the collaborative spirit behind a production that aims to honor the epic while introducing it to a new generation of moviegoers.

Comic-Con also reinforced the production’s global ambitions. Produced by Prime Focus Studios in association with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is being crafted for IMAX with visual effects by Academy Award-winning DNEG. The film features a score by legendary composers Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman, bringing together some of the world’s most accomplished creative talent.

Although fans anticipated an online trailer release following the Comic-Con presentation, producer Namit Malhotra announced that the worldwide trailer launch would be postponed, with a new release date to be announced later. The Comic-Con attendees still received an exclusive presentation celebrating the film’s scope and vision.

For American audiences unfamiliar with the Ramayana, Yash’s remarks served as an invitation to discover one of the world’s greatest literary epics through a character who is as charismatic as he is formidable. Rather than simply portraying evil, Yash aims to reveal Ravana’s humanity, making him a worthy counterpart to Lord Rama in a story that has endured for thousands of years.

If the reaction inside Ballroom 20 is any indication, Ramayana is poised to become one of the most anticipated international releases of 2026.
