Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald Returns to Harry Potter Universe

Well, I have to admit here that I have never been a huge fan of the Harry Potter genre, that being said, I have still been rather impressed by the world that the studios have put together, and this film does not disappoint! The studios have produced a film, that I believe, will give even a hardcore fan, like my wife, something to rejoice in.

The film carries on from the first maintaining a number of the same characters while introducing us to some new and interesting ones. I think the hardcore fans will appreciate the many references to the Harry Potter series throughout this film. The biggest being how Dumbledore was depicted and brought to life by Jude Law.

I spoke with some fans outside the theater who agreed that Just Law became Dumbledoor for this episode. I think they will also appreciate the beauty and amazing landscapes that were put together for this film. They really did some work on them to present them on a grand scale! They fit the era that the film is set in perfectly! Another area where you can see that they took some time is with the numerous wizard battles. The “light show” was phenomenal!

Now the story follows a very disgruntled Grindelwald, a wizard who, not unlike others of his ilk, what to see his race, clan, section, group, tile over those who are not like him, very much like Magneto, or even Hitler. Grindelwald wants to gather all of the wizards so as to rule over the muggles. He has the idea, as most tyrannical leaders do, that Wizards should be the ruling force simply because they are better. Of course, this plan does not go over well with the council of magic and so they try to elicit the help of Newt. Newt, however, doesn’t really want to get involved, to pick sides. Of course, this leads to jaunting all over trying to stop Grindelwald.

This film is wonderfully fraught with amazing special effects without seamlessly move the story along. The action never overtakes the story, the story is the most important thing in this film, and that’s something I do appreciate as you all know. Even though I’m not a huge follower of the Harry Potter world, I did appreciate this movie and feel that it stands alone, so that even if you are unfamiliar with this genre you can still appreciate this film and the characters that they develop as well as the overall storyline. I do believe it does have something for everybody, and I would highly recommend it especially for the twist at the end!
