Don’t Touch the Classics! Murder of the Orient Express

The Murder On the Orient Express was a film adapted from the Agatha Christie novel in 1974. It was the best cinematic representation of Christie’s work to date with a mega star cast; Albert Finney was the famous detective Hercule Poirot. The cast included Vanessa Redgrave, Sean Connery, and Academy Award winner Ingrid Bergman.

Hollywood is in its phase of remaking classic movies and childhood television shows because they have a “brand”. Fox rebooted this classic film, casting modern talent such as Johnny Depp, Dame Judi Dench to name a few. The director of this now re-adapted diversely cast film is Kenneth Branagh.

It is hard to say based on the trailer if the film will truly do justice to the book and original story. There were many modern elements added to entice younger viewers including the usage of Imagine Dragons “Believer”.
