The prestigious La Costa Film Festival in Carlsbad California will be honoring one of the unsung heroes in the movie industry. Veteran actor John C. McGinley has appeared in over 50 movies and television shows we have grown to love; including the lovable Doctor Cox in Scrubs.
McGinley was a graduate from the NYU Tisch School of the Arts MFA program and has gone on to work with many talented individuals like Oliver Stone, James Gunn, Tyler Perry and David Mamet. He had also produced a dramatic film that was distributed worldwide called Two Tickets to Paradise.
John is also an advocate of individuals with special needs. He is an avid speaker on the subject on Down Syndrome; a condition that his son Max was born with. He is on the board of the Global Down Syndrome Foundation as well as a spokesperson for the National Down Syndrome Society and the Special Olympics.
McGinley will receive the La Costa Film Festival Legacy Award. The Legacy Award is the final presentation given at the Festivals La Costa Honors Night ceremonies which all happens prior to any of the evening’s screenings. The event includes a compilation of John C. McGinley’s film career.
This is a distinct and separate event from the screening of any films, Q&A sessions or panels.
