In breaking news it was just announced that Chicago will be the home of the 2019 Star Wars Celebration, taking it away from its previous home in Orlando, FL.
The event brings Star Wars fans from around the world for exclusive content on the franchise and the chance for one-on-one interactions with the cast and crew of all the films. The convention is skipping this year in preparation for the 2019 event.
To say this is a big deal would be an understatement. The sudden shift to the Midwest is surprising. Still, it isn’t totally out of the blue. George Lucas, the mind behind the blockbuster series, has always had a Chicago connection. His wife is from the Windy City and they were married in Chicago so it has a special place in his heart. Fans will also remember that up until a few years ago it was Chicago that was supposed to the get LucasFilm Museum until complications brought it back to California.
Tickets for the event are scheduled to go on sale June 5 at 12 p.m. CST at StarWarsCelebration.com.
