I think Fox is trying to make a comeback on police drama. I found this one surfing Hulu (of course) so I binged 4 episodes.
Action: Check, Drama: Check, Plot: What
I don’t know. I mean, it kind of reminds me of Batman, except that the tech billionaire, Gideon, doesn’t dress up as a masked vigilante. No, he just purchases new toys and upgrades the 13th District Chicago police department and creates an app that notifies them of a crime (or 911 call) for a quick response. Mind you, it’s a great concept. I think that other cities could learn from this, but the expense is crazy.
Anyhow, in the episodes I watched, you can definitely “feel” the tension between Officer Murphy and Gideon. A definite opposites attract kind of situation with the two of them. Then again, it may be the budding relationship between the two of them, though Gideon (Justin Kirk – Weeds, Modern Family) seems highly intrigued by Officer Murphy.
Natalie Martinez (CSI – NY, Secrets and Lies, Death Race) plays Theresa Murphy, a beat cop in the 13th District and ex wife (maybe she’s the baby momma, lol sorry) of Scott Murphy (Assistant DA, played by Daniel MacPherson – Shannara Chronicles). Officer Murphy is the model police officer, with the drive to get things done. To help others and save lives. I don’t know too m any police officers, but I am hoping that many are like that.
It’s an interesting show. A lot of action, but the comparison to reality, I mean I am one to criticize the actions (especially the legal parts), all the time. If you are looking for action, then you can watch it. Will it get renewed for a second season? Not sure.
